David Jason to direct film... for free!
Sir David Jason is making his directorial debut in All The Way Up - which he's doing for free. The veteran Only Fools And Horses star agreed to direct the film, starring Adrian Dubnar, Lee Ingleby and Chris Chittell (Emmerdale's Eric Pollard), without commanding a hefty salary after being impressed with Ben Sweet's script, whom he met on the set of A Touch Of Frost. "It would be wonderful to bring such an offbeat comedy to life - this film just has to get made," said David. David - whose previous directing experience was on TV series The Quest - has almost completed shooting the film about a businessman (Adrian) whose life changes when he meets a hotel bell-boy (Lee), in Huddersfield with Yorkshire filmmakers Ben and Shane Hamill. Co-producer Shane said: "He's the most inspirational director anybody's seen on set. He's an absolute gentleman. He has an aura of enthusiasm - he blew everybody away with his charisma and personality." He added: "All the people who are involved, even down to the location itself, the studios, has unbelievably given their time for nothing. It's something that I've never heard of, especially in this economic climate. "People have come together to help us achieve our dream of making a film." The film is due to be completed in February and will then be shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
