David Walliams has become a publishing phenomenon, after making more than £13 million from his children's books.
The funnyman has written five books in the past four years, which have had total UK sales of around two and a half million copies, raking in £13,198,871.97, according to Nielsen Bookscan.
The figures prove that the 42-year-old star of Britain's Got Talent and Little Britain, who has a baby son with model wife Lara Stone, is now one of the country's leading children's authors alongside JK Rowling, reported The Sun.
David's first children's book Mr Stink was written in 2009, and was turned into a stage musical and a BBC TV film starring Hugh Bonneville and Sheridan Smith.
It led to four other books - Billionaire Boy, Ratburger, Gangsta Granny and The Boy In The Dress - and the sixth, Demon Dentist, will be released this month with publisher HarperCollins.
A publisher told The Sun: "He is a phenomenon. People who think of him as a comedian are wrong. He's far and away the most successful children's book writer for years. He's the Roald Dahl of his generation."
