Davina McCall leads tributes to TV presenter Emily Hartridge following her tragic death, aged 35

Davina McCall has paid tribute to TV presenter Emily Hartridge, who has died at the age of 35.

The Channel 4 and YouTube star was killed near her home in Battersea, south London, at around 8:30am on Friday morning after her electric scooter collided with a lorry.

Paramedics battled to save her life, but Emily was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Her death is thought to be the first involving an electric scooter in Britain.

Davina was one of the first to pay tribute to Emily, writing on Instagram: “My heart goes out to Emily's family and friends. Such a shock. Sending you love and prayers.”

Celebrity chef Gizzi Erskine said: “Finding this very very hard to compute. Devastating 💔”

While TV presenter Zoe Hardman added: “Absolutely devastating news 💔 finding it so hard to understand how this could happened. All my thoughts are with her family xx."

And BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Stark tweeted: "Really sad to hear the news about Emily Hartridge. She was such a top girl, so talented and a heart of gold.

"Just makes you remember to live every day like your last. Thinking of her close friends and family with this tragic news. RIP Emily."

Confirming the tragic news on her Instagram account on Saturday, a statement from Emily’s family read: “Hi everyone. This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once.

"Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away. We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten.

"She has touched so many lives it's hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person xxx."
