Channel 4's Deal or No Deal could be axed following the launch of an investigation into whether it constitutes gambling. The popular game show - hosted by Noel Edmonds - could be breaking the law because games that involve no skill require a gambling licence, says The Gambling Commission. ITV's Red or Black?, presented by Ant and Dec and developed by Simon Cowell, is also said to be under investigation. The Commission said it would publish advice next month for broadcasters and producers on the rules regarding gambling on television. "The advice will make clearer what activity constitutes gambling," said John Travers, a spokesman for the regulator. Channel 4 confirmed that it had been contacted by the Commission about Deal or No Deal - which regularly pulls in four million viewers - and said it would be meeting the regulators 'within due course'. Deal or no Deal sees contestants try to guess which of the 22 sealed boxes contain the top prize of £250,000. In Red or Black?, contestants must correctly 'guess' the outcomes of a series of red or black challenges, to get the chance to spin a roulette wheel for £1 million.
