Death In Paradise to return for a sixth series
The BBC has given the green light for a sixth series of the hugely popular crime drama Death In Paradise as it continues to be a big ratings winner.
The fifth series of the Caribbean-set crime drama, which comes to the end of an eight-week run on Thursday (25 February), has cemented its position as one of the BBC’s highest rating dramas. It has attracted more than eight million viewers per episode with a 29 per cent share of Thursday evening viewers.
The series was the third highest rating UK drama of 2015 and the fourth widest-selling British drama, having been sold to 237 territories around the world, including China, South Africa and the US. Other dramas in the top five include Luther, Doctor Who and Downton Abbey.
Filmed on the French island of Guadaloupe, each episode follows Saint-Marie’s crime-fighting team as they solve the island’s most complex and mysterious murder, usually in the company of an impressive line-up of guest stars! In previous series, they have included Wendy Craig, Keith Allen, Stephanie Beacham, Sean Pertwee, Tara Fitzgerald, and former soap stars Michelle Collins, Jill Halfpenny and Paul Nicholls.
It has also been confirmed that Kris Marshall will return as the bumbling but brilliant Humphrey Goodman, along with the other members of the St Honore police team.
