Death in Paradise teases ‘surprise kiss’ for Jack in next series as filming starts
Ardal O Hanlon is back as Jack with Aude Legastelois as new series regular DS Madeleine Dumas
Death in Paradise has teased that there will be a "surprise kiss" for DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) in the next series.
Poor Jack has been suffering ever since his wife died, but it looks like romance might finally be on the cards for the cop.
As filming begins on the ninth series of Death in Paradise on the French-Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, the show’s makers say that Jack has a kiss, but not who it is with.
Could it be with his new officer, DS Madeleine Dumas, played by Aude Legastelois? Hmm, that seems unlikely, but what about with bar owner Catherine (Elizabeth Bourgine)? There’s been plenty of chemistry between the pair in past series and perhaps now is the moment they finally get together.
The last series saw Josephine Jobert leave the show after five years playing DS Florence Cassell, whose fiancé Patrice was tragically shot dead. Fans also had to deal with Danny John Jules leaving the show before the last series even started as Officer Dwayne Myers.
But, Ardal, Tobi Bakare (JP) and Shyko Amos (Ruby) are back for series nine. And, in a piece of great news for fans, Don Warrington is also back as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, who'll be keeping Jack and his team in order again.

Executive Producer, Tim Key, said: “We’re thrilled to be back in Guadeloupe with our fantastic cast and crew getting to work on more ingenious murder mysteries in the Caribbean sun. We can’t wait for the audience to see what we’ve got in store for series nine – there are some big surprises coming.”
Death in Paradise series nine is likely to begin on BBC1 next January.
