Des O'Connor to marry woman half his age
Des O'Connor, 75, is to marry his 38-year-old fiancee this September. The TV presenter will tie the knot with singer-songwriter Jodie Brooke Wilson four years after he first proposed and 17 years after they first got together. Their son Adam, who turns three in September, will play a central role in the ceremony. Des's four grown-up daughters from his three previous marriages will also attend the celebrations. "I want it to be a day Jodie will treasure for the rest of her life," he told Hello! magazine. "We are both romantics and we can't wait to share this day with the people we love." The couple decided to marry during a holiday in Jodie's native Australia over Christmas. "We discussed the possibility of a wedding over there, but decided it had to be here so that we could include more of our friends," she explained. Des said parenthood had brought the couple closer together. "Every time we look at him we are so proud to be his mum and dad. We can feel his love for us and somehow it seemed right to be a complete family. "Nobody can say we rushed into it. We know we will be together for always. I can't imagine life without Jodie and Adam." The TV host also shared the news with viewers on C4's Paul O'Grady Show on Monday afternoon. He said the wedding would be 'a fun do' and joked of the honeymoon: "I'm already in training!"
