EastEnders star Danny Dyer teases 'POWERFUL' Mick and Linda Christmas storyline
Danny Dyer reveals what's in store for EastEnders fans this Christmas as Mick and Linda Carter hit all sorts of festive family troubles...
Mick and Linda Carter have been through the mill recently in EastEnders, what with them worrying about their son, Ollie, and Mick’s anxiety and panic attacks. But EastEnders being EastEnders, things comes to a massive head as the Carters hit Christmas. Danny Dyer explained more to us in an exclusive chat...
"Mick and Linda will be really tested this Christmas – this is EastEnders!" says Danny, who’s played Mick Carter for six years. "They’ve got some serious stuff coming up. At the moment with producer Kate Oates at the helm we’re the strongest we’ve been in a long time and we’re only just starting really. The stuff we’ve got coming up is so powerful and it’s going back to the old school EastEnders and letting everyone have the chance to shine!"
It seems Linda (Kellie Bright) will be hitting the bottle hard and eldest son Lee (played again by Danny-Boy Hatchard) has to return to Walford to help his mum and dad struggle through their latest crisis. But as Linda’s descent into alcoholism begins to wreak devastation on her family’s life, can Mick step up to the plate or will the stress finally break the Carter marriage apart for good as the boozy Christmas season?
"Mick’s going to new realms now as a character," says Danny. "Finally he’s been diagnosed with anxiety, which has been really great to play. Kellie Bright is great, and we’ve grown together on the show. Me and Kellie we’re still there, still in The Vic and hopefully we’ll have a good couple of years still playing landlord and landlady of that gaff!"

"When I finish filming The Wall, we’re shooting the EastEnders Christmas episodes, which are very Mick Carter heavy. Boxing Day is actually the sixth anniversary of me joining the show! My son Artie was born two days after I started. I really didn’t think they’d have me that long! There’s no other gig like it…".
I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. I'm currently TV Content Director on What's On TV, TV Times, TV and Satellite Week magazines plus Whattowatch.com. I previously worked on Woman and Woman's Own in the 1990s. Outside of work I swim every morning, support Charlton Athletic football club and get nostalgic about TV shows Cagney & Lacey, I Claudius, Dallas and Tenko. I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too.
