Emmerdale boss Kate Brooks reveals how 'uncomfortable' Maya and Jacob abuse storyline will end
Viewers have found the plot difficult to watch...
Emmerdale viewers have been tuning in to a pretty tough storyline recently, watching on as the manipulative Maya Stepney takes advantage of teenage Jacob Gallagher.
The difficult plot has proven troubling to fans of the soap, who have seen school teacher Maya groom the much younger Jacob, in a rare TV dramatisation of an older woman taking advantage of a younger male.
But now, Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks has reassured that she and her team will make sure the storyline reaches the 'right outcome' - hinting Maya may finally pay for what she's done.
Speaking to metro.co.uk, Kate admitted that the soap has a 'responsibility' to tell the story in the right way.
She said, 'We’ve got a responsibility. A lot of people watch the show, a lot of teenagers watch the show, and also we would never just tell one of these stories lightly, we have a duty to make sure the right protocol is carried out, and the right outcome.’
Kate continued, ‘It can make for uncomfortable viewing but I think it’s a really important storyline to tell.'

The show boss also shared that she and her team have been working closely with children's charity Barnardo's, to ensure they portray the plot with sensitivity.
But Kate Brooks went on to confess that, although the plot will come to the 'right' ending, there will be plenty of 'obstacles' ahead for the pair on the road to justice.
She revealed, 'There’s still a long way to go, it’s not going to be as straightforward as you’d imagine, there’s going to be other obstacles thrown into the mix.
'We want people to be yelling at the TV “please tell somebody. This is not right! You’re a young lad. please speak out about this”.'
In fact, according to Emmerdale spoilers, it seems viewers may be doing exactly that during Monday night's episode - as Jacob appears to be completely under Maya's spell...
