Eva Longoria, famous for her roles in Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids, stars alongside Jack Whitehall and David Suchet in BBC 1's new period drama, Decline And Fall.
Eva Longoria couldn't believe her luck when she landed the role of sultry South American, Mrs Margot Beste-Chetwynde in BBC 1's forthcoming period drama, Decline And Fall. But the star, who has had glamorous roles in hit US series like Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids admits she was in awe of her British co-stars, who include Jack Whitehall and David Suchet.
"You know, from the first moment I stepped on set I knew I was surrounded by geniuses," says Eva. "Between Jack and David and Vincent Franklin and Douglas Hodge - they're just amazing, amazing actors and great comedians. If you're not paying attention you'll miss the joke."
The comedy-drama, set during the 1920s, is an adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Decline And Fall, about Paul Pennyfeather (Jack Whitehall) a student who gets booted out of Oxford University after a prank and then runs into more trouble when he falls in love with the beautiful Margot and agrees to tutor her son over the summer holidays.
"I had a lot of scenes with David Suchet," continues Eva. "I remember walking on set and Jack's like: 'David's a really big deal.' He's such a great well respected actor that I said: 'Oh my gosh, I'm so terrified to have a scene with him because I think he's going to eat me up! But he was lovely and he immediately put me at ease."
Decline And Fall begins on Friday 31st March at 9pm on BBC 1
