Ex Neighbours actor Guy Pearce to star in massive BBC1 Christmas drama
All-star cast for adaptation of the famous tale by Charles Dickens
Former Neighbours favourite Guy Pearce will star in a new production of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol for BBC1 this festive season.
Guy, who famously played Mike Young in Neighbours before going onto to enjoy Hollywood fame, will take on the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
And he’s not the only star to be in the three-part drama with Line of Duty’s Stephen Graham as Jacob Marley, ex Call the Midwife actress Charlotte Ritchie as Lottie and Lord of the Rings legend Andy Serkis as the Ghost of Christmas Past.
Other key cast include Joe Alwyn (The Favourite) as Bob Cratchit; Vinette Robinson (Doctor Who) as Mary Cratchit; Rutger Hauer (True Blood) as the Ghost of Christmas Future; Kayvan Novak (What We Do In The Shadows) as Ali Baba and Lenny Rush (Old Boys) as Tim Cratchit.
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has adapted the legendary story, with the BBC promising it will be a “unique and original take on Charles Dickens’ iconic ghost story”.
Steven said: “This production of A Christmas Carol will respectfully present what we believe to be a timely interpretation of a timeless story.”
