Beeb orders six episodes
Suburban sitcom King Gary is getting a full series on BBC1, the broadcaster has announced.
Following a popular pilot last December, Tom Davis will return as Gary King for six new episodes.
Created by the Bafta-winning team behind Murder in Successville, King Gary follows Gary and love-of-his life Terri (played by Laura Checkley) as they enjoy family life in Butterchurn Crescent.
The new series will see Gary continue his mission to get one up on the neighbours while attempting to fill dad, Big Gary’s big shoes. Among the cast returning is The Fast Show’s Simon Day and comedian Romesh Ranganathan.

Tom Davis, who also co-writes King Gary with James De Frond, said: “James and I are honoured to be given the opportunity to bring the world we’ve grown up around to BBC1.
“We were both blown away with the tip top response to the pilot and can’t wait to get cracking with the series. We love writing these characters and it’s going to be an absolute joy to muck about in their world.”

Shane Allen, Controller of Comedy Commissioning for the BBC, added: “King Gary is big on laughs, big on heart and big on talent.
"Landing a mainstream family sitcom with a modern tone is a tough nut to crack but these scripts are bursting with great lines and well-earned set pieces. We look forward to Gary and Terri bringing cheer to a year of bafflement.”
It’s not yet been revealed when King Gary will be shown on BBC1. The comedy is just about to go into production.
