Fergie tackles 'fragmented' estates for ITV
The Duchess of York will meet the residents of a tough housing estate for a new programme for ITV1. The two-part documentary, which currently has the working title The Sarah Ferguson Project, will see the Duchess return from the States to the UK to help reunite broken communities. This is the second programme ITV has made with Sarah, who last year travelled to Hull to film a two-part documentary on obesity. Through the programme, Sarah hopes to empower the women of these communities to raise standards, expectations and ambitions, and inject life back into the neighbourhood. Talking about her latest project, Sarah said: "Some of our communities are so fragmented and I'm convinced that if we can start to give people a sense of community spirit they can start to work together to improve their local area and lifestyles." Sarah hopes to come up with a blueprint for change that could help the families she meets then roll this out to other nearby households. ITV's Controller of Entertainment, Layla Smith, who commissioned the series, said: "Sarah is a passionate force in instigating change and we are delighted that we have persuaded her to make another programme for ITV."
