Netflix has released the first trailer for The Crown, an original drama about the accession to the throne of a young Princess Elizabeth
Netflix has released the first trailer for its epic drama, The Crown, the story of the young Princess Elizabeth becoming Queen.
It stars Claire Foy as Elizabeth, while former Doctor Who star Matt Smith plays Prince Phillip.

The glittering production names don't end there. The Crown reunites acclaimed writer Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) with award-winning director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) and producer Andy Harries (The Queen).
The 10-part series is based on a play, The Audience, and tells the inside story of Queen Elizabeth II's early reign, revealing the personal intrigues, romances, and political rivalries behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th Century.

It's expected that Netflix will follow the first series of The Crown with other series reflecting each decade of the Queen's reign as monarch.
The Crown will premiere on Netflix on November 4.

He has produced TV news and entertainment features on personalities as diverse as Nick Cave, Tom Hardy, Clive James, Jodie Marsh and Kevin Bacon and he co-produced and directed The Ponds, which has screened in UK cinemas, BBC Four and is currently available on Netflix.
An entertainment writer with a diverse taste in TV and film, he lists Seinfeld, The Sopranos, The Chase, The Thick of It and Detectorists among his favourite shows, but steers well clear of most sci-fi.
