Gavin and Stacey duo Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon will reportedly make a bid for this year's Christmas No 1 spot with their version of Islands In The Stream. The pair, who play Nessa and Bryn on the hit BBC3 sitcom, originally performed the track on an episode of the show. However, The Sun now reports that they plan to release it as a single - and challenge the winner of BBC3 for the prestigious top spot in the Christmas charts. "Ruth and Rob want to record the track," a music insider told the paper. "Islands In The Stream is so cheesy it's perfect for Christmas. X Factor usually gets number one but it would be perfect to knock them off. The song was originally a hit for country singers Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton in 1983.
