When it comes to mother/daughter relationships on General Hospital these days, Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) by far have the rockiest in town.

They didn’t get off to the best of starts prior to knowledge of their biological ties, as Nina was actively trying to get Willow fired as a teacher due to disagreements over Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez). Then when Nina found out that Nelle (Chloe Lanier) was her biological daughter, the Crimson Magazine editor constantly overstepped her boundaries with Nelle and Michael’s (Chad Duell) son, often to Willow’s chagrin who became Wiley's (Viron Weaver) stepmother. There was also the major issue of Nina keeping Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) whereabouts a secret when he went missing from Port Charles.

While Willow and Nina were able to eventually work past all of this when they discovered Nina is Willow’s biological mother, their relationship again hit a snag when Willow learned that Nina is the one who turned Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) in for insider trading. The relationship between Willow and Nina seemed to be almost unsalvageable after that, and yet miraculously, they are on good terms today in large part thanks to Drew.

The hopeful politician has served as somewhat of a champion for Nina with Willow, and his words have made a difference. However, will Drew also be the reason these two women fall out for the umpteenth time?

As loyal viewers know, Drew and Nina profess to loathe each other but continue to bed one another whenever the mood strikes. Their unexpected sexual chemistry has so far been kept under wraps, and for good reason. For starters, they work together and probably don’t want their encounters to spread into the public, especially now that Drew is running for Congress. He probably doesn't want to have to defend his dalliances with Nina to voters.

Then there’s Willow. The last thing Nina needs is to have Willow believe she manipulated Drew into being her advocate to repair their bond.  Such a perception would again set the mother and daughter back. And yet, with that being said, their relationship may suffer anyway because of a mutual attraction to Drew. That’s right, based on the following clip and General Hospital hints, there’s a possibility that Willow may be falling for Drew (poor Michael).

We shouldn’t be completely shocked by Willow’s attraction to Drew if that proves to be the case. She’s been working closely with him after he convinced her to be the spokesperson for an organization that helps patients in need find bone marrow and stem cell matches, and she’s been Drew’s biggest supporter of his campaign.

Now soap history will show that when a mother and daughter are both romantically interested in the same man, things always go left. There’s usually some arguing, on occasion some tears and of course, the infamous phrase "never speak to me again" is thrown out into the atmosphere. Remember all the chaos that ensued when Carly and Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) both "loved" Tony (Brad Maule).

While we will have to wait and see if a love triangle is brewing between Willow, Drew and Nina, we can’t help but hope that proves to be the case. If nothing else, it will spice up Willow on the soap and unleash some chaos in Port Charles not related to Pikeman

New episodes of General Hospital air on weekdays on ABC. If you miss an episode, you can catch up on Hulu.
