Goodness Gracious Me back for TV special

Goodness Gracious Me is returning to TV for a one-off special.

The sketch show was originally a BBC Radio 4 series from 1996 to 1998, before being snapped up by TV from 1998 to 2001.

Now, fans can see stars Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kulvinder Ghir, Nina Wadia, Dave Lamb and Meera Syal, who's currently playing a judge in ITV's Broadchurch, back on screen again as they will be recording a special episode for BBC Two.

It comes hot on the heels of a recent hit return to the channel last year as part of BBC Two's 50th anniversary celebrations.

Sanjeev confirmed the news that Goodness Gracious Me would make a reappearance, tweeting: " Yes tweeps. Another 1 off #GoodnessGraciousMe Scripts being written, filming March, broadcast later this year #kissmychuddies #timewarp #GGM."

The BBC announced the news through an ad on its tickets site flagging up the chance to be in the audience for filming of the episode.

"After their successful reunion in 2014 the original cast from the award winning sketch show returns for another one-off special of the ground-breaking British Asian sketch show featuring some new characters and old favourites," it read.

Fans can apply for a maximum of two tickets by registering for the random draw up until February 19 at 4pm. The show will be filmed at Elstree Studios.
