Heartache on the cards for THIS Coronation Street legend after family reunion

Roy will meet his long-lost brother...

Coronation Street has revealed that Roy Cropper (David Neilson) will soon meet his long-lost brother Richard, but in a heartbreaking twist he is suffering from a lung disease.

Next week in Corrie Roy will share a heart-to-heart with Carla (Alison King) where he revels his discovery that his mother Sylvia had a secret son, as a result of her affair and that he was put up for adoption.

Coronation Street spoilers: Carla Connor is worried about Roy

Carla agrees to help Roy as he tracks down his secret sibling Richard

Early spoilers on the official Coronation Street website reveal that Roy has been doing plenty of digging and somehow manage to find an address for Richard.

Carla agrees to accompany Roy on his mission to find Richard, but when they get to the address a young woman practically shuts the door in their face.

However, after all this time, Roy isn't about to be put off and eventually he and Carla are let in by a care worker.

But the care worker has bad news for Roy – Richard is suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, which, according to the NHS website, is "a condition in which the lungs become scarred and breathing becomes increasingly difficult".

The NHS website adds: “Several treatments can help reduce the rate at which IPF gets worse, but there’s currently no treatment that can stop or reverse the scarring of the lungs”.

While Richard is clearly ill, at least Roy finds him sitting up happily in bed, with a chess set on his lap.

The mysterious girl who opened the door is called Nina and she turns out to be Richard’s daughter.

However it appears that Roy doesn’t tell her the truth about who he is really is and the fact that he’s actually her long-lost uncle.

“Roy tells a less than impressed Nina that he is simply her dad’s online Scrabble opponent,” teases the official Coronation Street website.

Coronation Street continues on ITV.
