Heartache for Corrie's Sally Metcalfe as she faces Christmas behind bars
Actress Sally Dynevor has revealed her character could be eating her turkey dinner in jail.
Despite Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod promising a 'Christmassy Christmas' on the cobbles this year, it doesn't look like the festive season will be a happy one for Sally Metcalfe.
Poor Sally was sent to jail after being wrongly accused of fraud back in September, and has been desperately trying to clear her name with the help of husband Tim, daughter Sophie, and sister Gina ever since.
But as the team desperately try and get Sal home in time for the Queen's speech, it's starting to look like their efforts might be in vain.
And while Sally is fully focused on getting home to her family for Christmas, little does she know that while she's been locked up Gina has fallen for Tim. But as the truth about Gina's feelings for her bother-in-law emerge, will the feeling be mutual?
Speaking of her character's ongoing ordeal, actress Sally Dynevor told Inside Soap's Yearbook 2019: "I don't think she's going to have a happy Christmas. She thinks she'll be home, and it just breaks my heart to think that she might not be at home on Christmas Day. Prison food!"
But while Sally faces eating Christmas pudding from the prison kitchen, actress Sally has admitted that this could be a defining moment for her character... "It would be nice to see her taken in a different direction because of what she has been through in prison.

"She might come out more community lead and be looking after people on the Street, making sure Rita's okay. But she'll probably just get it wrong. I just want her to have learned a few lessons about herself."
Gina's feelings for Tim would knock Sally for six if she found out, especially as actress Sally has confessed that prison has made her alter-ego realise how lucky she is...
"I think prison has really made her look at herself a bit more, who she is inside, and how important her family is to her. She's realised that Tim and her children are everything."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
