Hollyoaks residents will celebrate 20 years of the show in October with a birthday week featuring the show's first ever gay pride festival, a white-water Indiana Jones style pursuit – and the revelation of the gloved-hand killer.
Last autumn saw the shock death of Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna) in a train crash, but executive producer Bryan Kirkwood has promised: "We think that this year will be even more exciting, nail-biting, heart-breaking and dramatic."
The week will start with "riotous comedy" as Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) "decides to exploit the pink pound by throwing Hollyoaks' first ever gay pride festival."

And it seems there's trouble ahead for some characters, as the birthday week spirals into "a thrilling Indiana Jones style white-water pursuit marking the end of the journey for two of our biggest characters."
Speculation about the identity of the mysterious gloved-hand killer will come to an end, with a big reveal.
"Within this week the gloved-hand killer will also reveal themselves to the audience in a truly spine-tingling way," Bryan teased. "That story will take off in a direction that I don't believe anyone would see coming."
The anniversary will also be marked with a special week of Hollyoaks' Come Dine With Me, with familiar faces from across the show's history making an appearance.
The Hollyoaks Birthday Week will take place in October 2015.
