Martin Clunes reveals Doc Martin will return with a new series next year and both Sigourney Weaver and Harvey Keitel want to guest star
Doc Martin star Martin Clunes says comedy-drama Doc Martin will return for an eighth series in 2017, and Hollywood stars Sigourney Weaver and Pulp Fiction star Harvey Keitel (both pictured) want to appear in it!
Martin told What's on TV: “We’re just doing up the Doc Martin scripts now.
“Sigourney Weaver wants to come back and physically fight me in a pub! She’s doing three Avatar films at once, so it's if we can make it work with her schedule.”
And the Hollywood big hitters don’t stop there...
“Harvey Keitel really wants to be in Doc Martin as well – for real! I don’t know if we can find a space for him. We don’t want to go down the novelty-casting route, but he heard Sigourney was in it and said he wanted to be in it, too.
“I better start training!”
So how did someone like Sigourney come to play a cameo role of a belligerent American tourist on last year's Doc Martin?
“Sigourney is a friend of Selina (Cadell, who plays Mrs Tishell on Doc Martin) and they spend a lot of time together,” explained Martin, who first shot to fame with Men Behaving Badly (1992 - 1998) and remains firm friends with co-stars Caroline Quentin and Neil Morrissey.
“I went out with Neil the other night and it took a couple of days to get over it!” laughed Martin “We’ve got to get Caroline and Sigourney Weaver back on Doc Martin and we have to get Neil and Harvey in it too.”
