Housewives' Dana says young US stars lack skills
Desperate Housewives star Dana Delany says young Hollywood stars can be lacking in basic acting skills, a problem that can 'bite them in the butt'. The versatile actress, who plays Katherine Mayfair in the Channel 4 series, heaped praise on the British acting industry for giving thesps proper training and a theatre background. Dana said: "I think sometimes a lot of young actors get jobs without any training and then it sort of bites them in the butt soon after. "It's not like England where you have great actors moving between stage and film and theatre. "You didn't have the stigma that we had. You always had these great BBC productions and people learned on stage here. "I think our country is so big - that the theatre is mostly in New York and there's some theatre in LA, but not as much and so you get a lot of actors - young actors in LA - who really don't have the technique to fall back on. They are basically personalities." The 52-year-old actress revealed she would love to act on the British stage. She said: "I would actually love to come to London and work on the stage here, that's something I have never done and I would like to do that. "I would like to do Shakespeare, but I don't think I would dare do it here, you guys are too good at it. I would do the Shakespeare back home."
