The Thief, His Wife, and The Canoe is a four-part ITV miniseries that tells a truly bizarre story. It revolves around John Darwin (played by The Pact's Eddie Marsan), a teacher-turned-canoe conman who brazenly faked his own death in 2002 in order to get his hands on his life insurance money.
Along for the ride is his wife Anne (Monica Dolan), who becomes complicit in his scheme as John's grieving widow and ended up leaving her family behind and jetting off to Panama to try and start a new life with her husband. The series originally aired in Easter 2022.
