Inbetweeners' James Buckley and Joe Thomas to reunite in BBC2 comedy White Gold
An Inbetweeners reunion has been announced, with James Buckley and Joe Thomas to co-star in a new BBC2 comedy called White Gold
New comedy White Gold is set in 1983 and follows the lunatic antics at a double-glazing showroom in Essex.
It features two stars of The Inbetweeners, James Buckley and Joe Thomas, while Inbetweeners co-creator Damon Beesley has written the script. It's not yet clear what characters James and Joe will be playing.
Damon, who is the co-founder of Fudge Park, the production company making the show, said: "I’d like to thank the BBC for giving us this glorious opportunity to recreate the Essex of my youth - a time before the invention of 'Essex girls' jokes, fake tan or TOWIE. A time when having double-glazed patio doors installed meant you were winning at life.
"It’s hugely exciting to work with such a talented, brilliant cast and quite frankly I can’t wait for shooting to start."
In White Gold, the double-glazing sales team is led by charismatic salesman Vincent, played Ed Westwick, best known for his roles in Gossip Girl and Son Of Rambow.
Vincent is smart, handsome and cocksure, and will happily break the rules if it guarantees a sale. It’s a story of dodgy shenanigans, scams and petty rivalries - alongside free-flowing drugs, cash and sex.

“I’m very excited to be stepping into the world of White Gold," said Ed. "It’s brilliantly crafted and very unique, a special piece. I'm sure a great road lies ahead and I couldn't be in better company than with the BBC and Fudge Park.”
Shane Allen, Head of BBC Comedy Commissioning, said: “I’m delighted to be back in the ring with Damon as I absolutely adore his writing. These characters jump off the page and get you in a headlock. The story-telling combines raucous knockabout humour with a really powerful and emotionally engaging undertow."
The six-part comedy White Gold begins filming soon and will be shown some time in 2017.
I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. I'm currently TV Content Director on What's On TV, TV Times, TV and Satellite Week magazines plus Whattowatch.com. I previously worked on Woman and Woman's Own in the 1990s. Outside of work I swim every morning, support Charlton Athletic football club and get nostalgic about TV shows Cagney & Lacey, I Claudius, Dallas and Tenko. I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too.
