Is The Real Housewives Of Cheshire being axed?
It looks like it will the last time we see of The Real Housewives Of Cheshire when the series ends on Monday. The reality show faces the axe after just one series because it hasn’t picked up the ratings that ITV chiefs were hoping for.
Ratings for the programme, featuring WAGS Tanya Bardsley, Leanne Brown and Dawn Ward and businesswoman Ampika Pickston, started on ITVBe in January with 1.1million viewers, but ratings for recent shows have dipped to below 500,000.
ITV chiefs believe viewers haven’t warmed to the bitchy, self-obsessed, wealthy cast.
Tanya, 33, wife of Stoke’s Phil, Leanne, 38, wife of Sunderland’s Wes, and Dawn, 41, wife of former footballer Ashley, have featured heavily, shopping and arguing.
“Much was expected from The Real Housewives Of Cheshire with its glamourous, wealthy women,” said an ITV source. “It started off with a bang - attracting some of ITVBe’s best ratings - but interest has tailed off rapidly.
“No decision has yet been made on its future - but the word is that there will just be the one series and it won’t be back.”
The series ends its nine-show run on Monday.
