Jack Davenport: My 60s trousers make me look like Simon Cowell!
Jack Davenport says he ended up looking like Simon Cowell in his costume for new ITV drama Breathless.
The series, set in the 1960s, sees Jack play talented and charming gynaecologist Otto Powell, but even though the glossy medical drama looks supremely stylish, he admits that he wasn't too enamoured with the unflattering trousers that he had to wear, but he did take rather a shine to the period car that he got to drive.
"I am not a fan of the highness of the waistbands, I now know what it feels like to be Simon Cowell, without the money," laughs Jack, who also stars in Sky Atlantic's musical drama Smash.
"I don't enjoy that, but as an actor part of the fun is dressing up and not looking like yourself. I get a nice car though and it is an automatic so I don't have the horror of being in a period drama with a really old car and the owner standing right there as you crunch the gearbox!"
