Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell is in a 'conscious and stable' condition after suffering a fractured skull in a road accident in the United States. According to the MailOnline, James is thought to have been hit from behind by a truck while he was cycling along a deserted road just after dawn in Arizona while making a documentary for the Discovery Channel. The Discovery Channel said in a statement: "At approximately 0530 (PCT), 1330 (GMT) on 20 July, James Cracknell was involved in a road traffic accident while cycling in Winslow, Arizona. "James was taken to hospital where he is being treated for a head injury. He is conscious and his condition is stable; doctors have said he is making very good progress. "His wife [Beverley Turner] and family are with him as he continues to recover. James was planning a 2,745 mile bike race from Canada to Mexico with his fellow adventurer Ben Fogle – due to start in August – but this has now been put on hold. Fogle (Benfogle) posted a message on Twitter: "James has been in a cycling accident in the US. My thoughts are with James and his family. Flying out to Phoenix hospital tomorrow. "Thanks for all your messages. I will keep you all posted on his condition."
