Jarvis Cocker has admitted he's 'hooked' on The X Factor - and his verdict so far is that Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd "are really good at crying but they can't sing". The former Pulp frontman admitted that he knew he wasn't supposed to enjoy the show, but that he couldn't take his eyes off it this year. Speaking ahead of a Jack Daniel's anniversary gig, he said of the talent show: "I'm hooked, in a terrible way. I feel like I've got some terrible addiction." He went on: "I was round at my sister's the other night and I watched it both Saturday and Sunday. I know I'm not supposed to like it, but I don't think of it as music. It's not about music, it's about celebrities, it's about fame. And it's really obvious with this one because of the girl singers - two of them can't actually sing, they can cry, they're really good at crying but they can't sing. " Jarvis, who took to the stage at the Clapham Grand in south London with his Pulp bandmate Richard Hawley, guitar legend Duane Eddy and Ellie Goulding for the Jack Daniel's gig, concluded that The X Factor was about entertainment above all, He said: "X Factor marks this thing where music and entertainment have become separate, that's just about being a pop star, and there's other stuff which is about making music, tonight's gig is about making music." The first of The X Factor live shows screens on Saturday, 9 October.
