Jepsen: TV show taught me a lot
Carly Rae Jepsen has revealed taking part in Canadian Idol prepared her for life in showbusiness. The Call Me Maybe singer took part in the fifth season of the reality TV show in 2007 and came third. Carly told The Metro: "It was a reality TV show so there were obviously bits of it which were stressful and chaotic but looking back it was a boot camp for what this career really is. It teaches you about the pressures and gives you a taste for it and you decide if you're ready for it. It was a good little teaser. It was good exposure." The 27-year-old started out as a folk singer, but has now become a global pop sensation thanks to the success of her hit Call Me Maybe, which was championed by fellow Canadian Justin Bieber. Carly said "everyone was really supportive" of her change to pop. "It seemed like a slow and natural progression to me," she added.
