Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has caused controversy after using a swear word to describe Prime Minister Gordon Brown at a show recording. The BBC News website reports that the insult came during the warm-up for the recording on Wednesday and was not for broadcast. It follows his recent apology for calling the Prime Minister a "one-eyed Scottish idiot" earlier this year. However a BBC spokesman said no action would be taken and the incident would not be reported to the BBC Trust. BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow, who was at the recording, spoke to Clarkson afterwards. However the corporation has downplayed the incident, saying that Clarkson did not receive a "dressing-down" from Hadlow afterwards as reported in some of the papers. "As controller of the channel she holds both the programme and Jeremy in high regard," the BBC said in a statement. "After the programme she and Jeremy had a discussion about the recording, as controllers and presenters often do." Eyewitnesses said that Clarkson used the word while making off-the-cuff remarks on government policy.
