Emmerdale's John Bowe and Samantha Giles: 'The whole thing goes pear shaped' (VIDEO)
The latest lowdown on Lawrence and Bernice's troubled relationship from the Emmerdale stars themselves – John Bowe and Samantha Giles
With their relationship in ruins, Lawrence and Bernice both turn to alcohol to cope in Emmerdale. Drink fuelled and desperate, things begin to spiral out of control.
Speaking to What’s On TV at stately home Harewood House, near the Yorkshire-based Emmerdale set, John Bowe, who plays Lawrence White and Samantha Giles, who plays Bernice, chatted about their doomed relationship.
John talked about Lawrence's life: "The whole thing goes pear shaped. The wheels come off and he goes crazy. Hits the bottle big time. Destroys the interior of the house.”
Lawrence’s grandson Lachlan, desperate for his grandfathers love, shows up to the house with a shotgun to confront Lawrence and to urge him to sort his life out, but it all goes tragically wrong.
It is ex lover Ronnie's arrival that has really upset Lawrence's life, according to John. “He has to fend off that his daughter thinks that Ronnie is her father and then he has to fend off the fact that his wife still thinks he’s in love with this guy Ronnie.”
Meanwhile, Bernice is struggling with the prospect of another failed relationship, said Samantha.

“Bernice is expecting it to fail in a way because she hasn’t really had a successful relationship.”
Feeling rejected and betrayed by her increasingly volatile husband, Bernice turns to Andy for comfort and they end up having sex. The fall-out from this is huge, said Samantha.
“They don’t realise that Chrissie finds this out and that’s what sets her off on this path of revenge.”
Is this the end for Lawrence and Bernice? Both John and Samantha hope not.
“I see a great future for them,” said John optimistically.
