Season two will have a different writer
Killing Eve fans worried they’ll have a long wait until the second series will be relieved to hear that not only will it definitely be on the BBC, it will also be on next year.
Viewers have become enthralled by the sparring between Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer as the thriller’s leads, secret agent Eve Polastri and seriously scary assassin Villanelle/Oksana Astankova.
Now, the BBC’s director of content Charlotte Moore has confirmed Killing Eve will be back on the Beeb next year.
She described it as “a truly genre-busting series that’s had viewers hooked and craving more, thanks to the distinctive voice of Phoebe Waller Bridge brought to life by an incredible cast.”
Phoebe won’t be back for series two and instead Call The Midwife’s Emerald Fennell will be taking over writing duties.
Doctor Foster’s Jodie Comer told Harper’s Bazaar UK that she was “initially worried” about the change of writers but was soon happy and excited about the new writer.
She said: “It never put me off but it initially worried me, because I think what everyone knows is that Phoebe is so unique and her voice is so distinctive.
“You think, ‘Oh God - is anyone else going to be able to take the reins’. And you have Emerald who is so brilliant and also a very close friend of Phoebe, so they have a very similar sense of humour, and Emerald really understands the characters and the tone of the show.
“I’ve been really excited by the script and where the characters go.”
Killing Eve series 2 will be shown on the BBC next year. Killing Eve is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
