Spice Girls star Melanie C has said she could never be on The X Factor judging panel because she could not put through an act like rapper Honey G.

Mel said she is baffled by the break-out star of ITV's singing competition, who was saved by the judges in the sing-off last weekend.

She told the Press Association: “I haven’t seen any TV because I have been so busy, but everyone kept mentioning this Honey G and I was so curious so I thought ‘right, I’ve got to Google’.

“I am so confused. Is it for real? Is she pulling the wool over our eyes? Is Simon Cowell? I’m at a bit of a loss.

“But we are all talking about her, it’s all over the press. It would appear in this case that was the most important thing. I’m intrigued to watch the show so it’s working on me.”

Asked if she would ever like a place on the panel, Mel replied: “I don’t think so. If I had to save Honey G from deadlock I don’t think I could live with myself.

“I worked on Asia’s Got Talent, which was really fun. David Foster was our ‘Mr Critical’ and we had two Asian artists and we had an absolute scream.

“I find the Got Talent shows so much more wholesome. I would rather my little girl watch them.”

Melanie C & Magic Radio Breakfast Show host Nick Snaith will present The Magic of Christmas from the London Palladium, live on Magic Radio this Sunday from 7pm.
