More Gavin and Stacey in the pipeline?
Gavin and Stacey creators James Corden and Ruth Jones have left the door open for another series of their hit comedy. The show - which scooped two Baftas on Sunday night - was widely expected to end with a one-hour special this Christmas. But following their awards success, Ruth admits they are now reassessing their options. "We will see how the Christmas special goes and take it from there," she said. "We just don't want it to become predictable or stale. We never intended to write a second series, let alone a third." James also seemed to leave the door open for a future series: "We will write one if we can make it better," he said. "We have to be true to ourselves." Gavin and Stacey won the Sky+ audience award for programme of the year at Sunday's Bafta TV awards, the only gong voted for by the public. James also won the award for best comedy performance, beating Stephen Merchant, David Mitchell and Peter Capaldi. He praised Ruth during his acceptance speech, saying: "She's not just the greatest writer and actress, she is the best friend anyone could hope for and is as much Smithy as I am, and I share this with her". A one-hour special will be screened on BBC2 this Christmas.
