Move over James Bond? Ade Edmondson reveals he’s a bit of a daredevil
Actor/comedian Ade Edmondson has admitted he felt like an action star while he was making his new TV series, Ade at Sea.
The star sets sail to explore Britain's maritime past in the six-part series and he went through all sorts of dramas during filming, including being dunked in the waters off Bridlington and having to be rescued by an RNLI helicopter.
"It's quite a weird experience, getting into a harness in the middle of the sea with a chopper above you. You feel like you're in an action movie," said Ade, 57.
"I was in an immersion suit so luckily it wasn't too cold, but I'm a bit of a daredevil."
Ade, who has been married to fellow comedian Jennifer Saunders for 28 years, prides himself on the fact he hasn't been seasick for a quarter of a century.
"I know other people suffer quite badly. I've seen my cameraman be very, very ill twice and everyone else look a bit peaky, but I just laugh at them and run around the deck," he said.
Ade will soon be heading off on his travels again, this time to Australia, where he will be touring with his band The Bad Shepherds.

"I dearly love the band stuff, much more than I loved being a live comedian," he said.
"It's a much more pleasurable experience, much more emotional. I like comedy, don't get me wrong, but it's an exercise in crowd control and it's quite aggressive. Music is about going into a room and all meeting in the middle."
Ade At Sea begins on ITV on Thursday 20 March.
