Mrs Fernandez-Versini: 'People are so ignorant about my name they just call us Cheryl'
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has branded people 'ignorant' for not calling her by her new name.
The pop star and X Factor judge changed her surname from Cole when she married Jean Bernard in a secret ceremony in the summer and she told Marie Claire magazine that making the change felt like the right thing to do.
“It’s come quite naturally, you know,” she said of getting used to her new name.

But the 31-year-old added: “People are so ignorant about it, they just start calling us Cheryl, but I’ll take that, whatever.”
Perhaps the one-word name is better than the nickname, Cheryl Nandos-Panini, given to her by Strictly Come Dancing star Jake Wood earlier this week.
The newly-married star said that she is not ready for babies.

“I’ve got 11 nieces and nephews, and I’ve been through every single stage with all of them. I had three of them down a couple of weeks ago and I love having them, but it’s also nice saying, ‘Bye! Go see your mam and dad now!’,” she told the magazine.

“I love babies, but not quite yet. I mean, never say never, you can never say never, in life. Full stop. About anything.”
Simon Cowell previously joked that the former Girls Aloud singer married a man with a complicated surname so that she could become a one-name pop star.
But the I Don’t Care singer responded: “So I could be like Madonna? See how his brain works. I mean, who even thinks like that?”

She said of her X Factor boss: “In the early days I’d get phone calls if I wore a T-shirt (in an X Factor clip), where he’d be like, ‘what the bloody hell were you wearing?’
“He wears the same moth eaten t-shirt he’s worn for six years and he’s calling up about what I’m wearing?!
“The moment Simon Cowell appreciates what I wear then that’s when I’ll worry,” she said of Simon, who recently told the star that she looked like Kermit the Frog because of a green gown she wore on the ITV singing show.

Cheryl said of her years away from the limelight after being axed from the US X Factor: “People were like, ‘you’re crazy, you shouldn’t do this, it’s a bad career move’.
“(I said) ‘It’s me or my mental health.’… My gut instinct was like, ‘it’s enough’. For the first time since I wanted to be a pop star, I didn’t have any fire in my belly. Without realising it, I had gone to a dark place, I needed to have a reality check and get some real feelings back.”
