The bongs are back! News At Ten returns on Monday night with TV favourite Sir Trevor McDonald back in the hotseat. After years of being shunted around the schedule, the bulletin will go head to head with the BBC's 10pm programme on Monday night. The studio has been given a makeover, with a panoramic 220-degree backdrop of the River Thames. The title sequence has also been remade with the latest CGI production techniques. Presenters will have a Minority Report-style touch screen gizmo to interact with images and objects on screen. Ditching the trend for walking around the studio, news anchors Sir Trevor, Julie Etchingham and Mark Austin, will remain firmly in their seats. News At Ten is being resurrected as part of ITV1's new schedule and will see the return of Sir Trevor to news presenting for the first time since 2005. The bulletin, which launched in 1967, was moved to 11pm in 1999 to let ITV show movies and sport uninterrupted, but the channel lost viewers as a result. It was revived in 2001 but then replaced with a later slot once again. Dubbed 'News At When', it ran at 10.30pm since early 2004, while the BBC capitalised on the changes to move from 9pm to 10pm. Sir Trevor, 68, said of his return: "I thought about it for a very long time because you move on. I have a quasi-philosophical belief that you can't go back but this was too good an opportunity."
