The BBC is attempting to give children a glimpse of what it is like to have dyslexia. Interactive site Try Being Me will be launched online to accompany My Dyslexic Mind, a Newsround Special. It aims to give children "a deeper understanding of the frustrations and difficulties that dyslexia can bring". Video, animation and game mechanics are used on the site, to accompany the CBBC programme, which is presented by a 12-year-old boy who has the condition. Executive producer Daniel Clarke said: "The Newsround Specials are always trying to find the most engaging ways of increasing the CBBC audience's understanding of difficult issues. "Try Being Me is a natural extension of this principle - it's exciting to work on a different platform, and really interesting to experiment with what real interactivity can bring to what we do." Children's presenter Dom Wood talks about how he was not diagnosed with dyslexia until he was 15 on the Newsround Special, broadcast at 5pm on January 7.
