Four celebs - and a dog - go on their first-ever canal boat holiday for a new series on Channel 5. Will they sink or float?
Self-confessed barging virgins Debbie McGee, Nigel Havers, Lorraine Chase and Simon Callow face fear, confusion and comedy as they pair up to steer a course down two of Britain’s favourite canals for Carry On Barging, a four-part series airing on Channel 5 in 2017.
The celebs have to learn not only how to get on with each other but also how to get to grips with their barges and the locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Llangollen Canal.
Actor Nigel pairs up with performer Debbie (widow of the late Paul Daniels) and both have sufficient boating experience to enable them to take control of the larger barge – but not enough experience to guarantee smooth sailing.
And actors Simon and Lorraine face issues of their own, including swans…
