Now that we know more about Poppy's past on The Bold and the Beautiful, her bad advice to Luna makes more sense

When Poppy (Romy Park) first arrived on The Bold and the Beautiful, there was no question that Luna’s (Lisa Yamada) mother had some secrets but she was so kind and concerned about her daughter that her shortcomings were easy to overlook.

But after revealing that Poppy had been in a relationship with Tom (Clint Howard) during his days as a touring rockstar, everything we know about Poppy has been turned upside down. Suddenly the magical night she spent with Bill (Don Diamont) is nothing more than a one-night stand. Not only that, but if not for the DNA test — which still might not be accurate — it’s possible Tom could be Luna’s father.

Li’s (Naomi Matsuda) harsh words about her sister’s lifestyle are now starting to ring true. The reason she never said anything about Luna’s father is that she didn’t know who her father was with any certainty. That’s not something she’d want to admit to Luna, so she found clever ways to avoid the conversation altogether.

But there’s something else that has me thinking about Poppy’s past. It always struck me as odd that Poppy kept telling Luna to lie to RJ (Joshua Hoffman) about what happened with Zende (Delon De Metz). Luna’s instinct was to come clean right away. She didn’t know at the time that she’d been drugged, and her biggest concern was for RJ and Zende’s relationship.

Poppy argued that telling RJ would cause an even bigger rift between the Forrester cousins, so she was better served keeping the secret and hoping it never came out. Even when it killed her daughter to keep the truth from the man she loves, Poppy insisted that she remain silent.

The situation feels all too similar to what happened with Poppy and Tom. Poppy never told him that she’d cheated on him with Bill while he was passed out between shows. For Bill, it was a magical night. For Poppy, it was a one-night stand…and it might not have been the only one.

It never seemed right that Poppy pushed Luna to not talk to RJ. But now it makes more sense because this is something she’s probably experienced before. Poppy seems to be a master when it comes to keeping secrets that could destroy relationships.

All of a sudden, Poppy’s past seems to be catching up to her and she’s putting her relationships with Luna and Bill in jeopardy. While we know that the mother-daughter duo have their “Nozawa Power,” I think that when Luna learns more about her mother’s past it’s going to tear their relationship apart. Luna, like the audience, will start to see that maybe some of her mother’s advice was meant to steer her away from the truth for less than altruistic reasons, damaging their bond and their Nozawa Power.
