X Factor runner-up Olly Murs doesn't believe he'd have made it through his first audition without the support of the audience. The live crowd was introduced to the audition stage of the ITV talent show for the first time last year and the 26-year-old call centre worker performed Superstition by Stevie Wonder, which was a huge hit with the audience, prompting Simon Cowell to say it was 'the easiest "yes" I have ever given'. Olly said: "If there hadn't have been an audience there, I wouldn't have got through. Simple as that. Definitely, without a shadow of a doubt. "I'm not a confident standing still singer. I have to perform. If that had been taken away from me, I don't think I would have got through. "I tried twice before on The X Factor and never got through. I didn't get through to see the judges. I sang Jungle Book, I Wanna Be Like You, and the next one was Paolo Nutini, Last Request." But Olly managed to get signed up by Simon Cowell, even though he didn't win The X Factor. He revealed: "I came up here for a meeting with Epic and as I came downstairs after the meeting I bumped into Simon and I shook his hand. And he literally just turned round and said 'Olly, I can't let you go, I want to sign you. I want to get it sorted out. I know you're coming to Epic but I really want to be involved in the deal and I'll sort it out'. And I thought it was just the passing comment, because obviously I hadn't seen him since the show. And he literally did. I get the best of both worlds - I get Epic as well as Syco."
