Coronation Street actor Chris Gascoyne has revealed that his character Peter Barlow faces a difficult decision - to stay with his son Simon or to head back Stateside with girlfriend Carla Connor. Peter and Carla have returned to Weatherfield after an extended stay in California, but Carla is already itching to head back to the US. "Peter's desperate to be back in Simon's life, this is the whole thing... He's been over in LA, he's missed him desperately, he couldn't wait to get back," Chris said on the soap's official website. "Peter and Carla have been out there in LA. They've had a great time - they've had freedom, time together, and got to know each other with none of the strains of work and all that, but deep down I think Peter's missed it. I think Peter's had enough." He teased: "Peter wants to stay, Carla wants to go." Chris is glad to be back on the Street, after taking a hiatus in July. "It feels great to be back to see everybody again, and get back into the swing of things," he said. "It's good playing a nice chilled Peter. I think the return of Peter and Carla is brilliant. It's just at the right, and very wrong moment."
