Peter Kay to bring back Phoenix Nights for Comic Relief and new TV series in 2015 (VIDEO)
Award-winning comedian Peter Kay is bringing back hit comedy Phoenix Nights in 2015 with a new live stage show and a TV series, reports a tabloid newspaper.
A source close to the 41-year-old star says he is making a comeback and is in talks to perform seven live shows for Comic Relief with a Phoenix Nights theme – before beginning promotional work for a return to TV, claims the Mirror.
Channel 4's Phoenix Nights was a huge hit after it ran for two series from 2001, with Peter playing northern club owner Brian Potter.
Talks of a return to the show and a third series have been rumoured for years, but this live show will be the closest thing to a third series, with one of the shows expected to be recorded and televised as part of Comic Relief.
A source close to Peter said: “He has had some time off but can’t wait to get back making people laugh which is something he loves to do.
“Next year is going to be a massive year for Peter and his fans.”
Peter is known for his contributions to Comic Relief, which include his legendary mime to (Is This The Way To) Amarillo from 2005, featuring Ronnie Corbett and his famous fall, Sooty and Sweep and many more.
