PR guru Max Clifford battling cancer
Max Clifford has revealed that he has been fighting cancer for the past six months. Just days after Kerry Katona named her son after him, the PR guru has opened up about his diagnosis. Doctors told the 65-year-old he had prostate cancer last October and he is now approaching the end of radiotherapy treatment. "It was a real shock," he said. “The C-word is one you never want to hear. I kept wondering what was around the corner. My attitude is to face things full on. It's not about being brave, it's about being realistic." Max, whose wife Liz died from bone cancer five years ago, told only his daughter Louise and partner, 45-year-old Jo Westwood about his diagnosis. "It was particularly hard telling Louise because of what happened to Liz. I didn't want anyone else to know. I am good at keeping secrets and I am sure no-one has noticed what has been going on over these past six months. "I hope that by speaking out I can encourage other men to have regular check-ups and perhaps save lives too." Max, who has run his agency Max Clifford Associates since 1970, said he had been given a two-year life expectancy without treatment. But he says he now 'stands a good chance of living for a long time' after receiving radiotherapy.
