Rachel Riley: I need to be ruder on Strictly!

Countdown's Rachel Riley has admitted that she needs to sex things up on Strictly Come Dancing as she takes to the floor for a salsa.

The letters and numbers whiz, who was praised for her opening waltz with partner Pasha Kovalev last Saturday night, told the Mirror that she planned to show a different side of her personality.

But she added she was cautious of losing fans of her daytime show.

"I've just got to throw myself in and turn off all my inhibitions," Rachel said. "I'm a bit ruder than people think and I've got to find that for Strictly.

"But there's a line to draw. I'm representing Countdown and we have children and retirees watching.

"You've got to portray the side of yourself that you'd show your parents and your grandparents rather than your mates."

And Rachel - who hinted that she may be donning a rather skimpy sequinned number for Saturday's show - also revealed that her husband Jamie Gilbert, whom she married last year, was one of her biggest supporters.

We talked about it and I explained I’d be really busy for a few months and he said ‘you’ve got to go for it’," she explained.

“He’s really sporty and loves going to the gym so he understands the need to put the work in to get results. He’s even checking which food I’d like in the kitchen and sending me pictures of the cats. Jamie’s great, I’m really lucky.”

Saturday's Strictly will kick off at 6.20pm on BBC One, with the first elimination of the series on Sunday night.
