Rita Ora: I chose The X Factor to help talented kids, not for the cash

Rita Ora has hit back at BBC insiders who have accused her of choosing 'cash over credibility'when she quit The Voice to join The X Factor judging panel, saying she just wants to help 'talented kids'.

The Poison singer told the Daily Mirror that she swapped shows due to timing issues with her schedule rather than for financial gain.

And she revealed that the jibe hit home when she visited the East London Arts and Music academy last month, where she was reminded that she wanted to take part in shows like X Factor to discover new talent.

The 24-year-old explained: “I went to be a guest and surprise the students. And I thought, ‘I can’t believe people would ever think that I would do it for that.’

“I thought, ‘Look at these talented kids in this school.’ It reminded me that I’m so lucky. And that’s why I’m doing shows like X Factor.”

Meanwhile, MailOnline has reported that Rita has split from musician Ricky Hil, son of Tommy Hilfiger, in what was a 'mutual' decision.

Ora and Ricky reportedly began dating around the summer of 2014, months after Rita’s break-up with Calvin Harris.
