Pop star Robbie Williams makes a surprise appearance in tonight's episode of The X Factor. Dressed in overalls, Robbie jokes he is now working as Sharon's gardener after being "kicked out" of Take That.
Robbie Williams takes on the role of Sharon Osbourne’s gardener and jokes that he has got to “make the bills somehow” after being “kicked out of Take That” in tonight's episode of The X Factor.
The Angels singer, 42, stars in the Judges’ Houses round of the ITV show, helping Sharon, 63, select her acts.
As the contestants in the over-25s category arrive at Sharon’s mansion, they find Robbie in overalls, working as the X Factor judge’s “part-time gardener”, pruning the hedges.
“Since I got kicked out of Take That I have got to make the bills somehow,” he jokes.
And he tells Sharon: “I’m so glad you got the over-25s. At least you (the singers) will know who I am!”
Robbie then walks off to get ready to guest judge, saying: “I have got to get out of my overalls.”
When Honey G auditions, she gives a memorable performance of Coolio’s 'Gangsta’s Paradise' and says: “I was born to perform.”
While Sharon thinks that she “walks like a policeman”, Robbie admits: “I will remember Honey G for the rest of my life.”
Saara Aalto, from Finland, tells X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary that she thinks she “saw a tear in Robbie’s eye” while singing Abba’s 'The Winner Takes It All.'
But while Sharon enjoyed the 29-year old’s vocal range, Robbie admits: “I got a bit bored.”
After Christopher Peyton auditions, singing Primal Scream’s 'Moving On Up', Robbie tells Sharon: “Wow, he looks like a bald Howard Donald,” referring to the Take That star.
Pub landlady Samantha Atkinson sings 'Tears' by Clean Bandit and says: “This time last week I was in the pub pulling pints, telling off customers and making tea for my family.”
Meanwhile, Relley C, who was sent home by Nicole Scherzinger just before the live shows on a previous series, says: “To fall again at the final hurdle would be devastating.”
In Nicole’s boys’ category, the former Pussycat Doll has DJ Calvin Harris to help her judge the singers.
Contestant James Hughes said that he felt that he had “failed” after stopping his performance midway through, but Harris said that it was “kind of admirable” that he had managed to recover.
Louis Tomlinson lookalike Matt Terry, who told judges that he was heartbroken after his girlfriend dumped him, sang Michael Jackson’s She Out of My Life, saying “it’s close to my heart”.
The X Factor is on ITV1 at 7:30pm tonight.
