Ronni gets her chance to impress
Comic impressionist Ronni Ancona is branching out on her own with a new BBC One sketch show. The three special episodes of Ronni Ancona & Co follow the comic's acclaimed sketch show partnerships in The Big Impression, with Alistair McGowan, and The Sketch Show, with Lee Mack and Tim Vine. In her new series, the 38-year-old takes a swipe at the celebrity masses and unleashes a host of eccentric characters. Featuring a blend of character sketches and celebrity impersonations, Ronni is joined by some guest stars as well as a regular company of actors and comedians. Her new collection of characters include The Scary Woman, a teacher on the verge of a nervous breakdown, Britain's bitchiest airport security guard and the flamboyant Miffy Toffle. Her celebrity impressions include the married life of Tom and Katie Cruise, Kate Moss and Pete Doherty relaxing at home, plus the numerous clients at the soon to be infamous Friary Clinic. "The show is an eclectic mix of characters and impressions, which is something I've always wanted to do," she said. "And it has been a fantastic opportunity to work with other artists who I greatly admire." Ronni Ancona & Co will screen later this year.
