Russell Grant has revealed he would rather die on the dancefloor than quit Strictly Come Dancing - despite facing an operation after he suffered a knee injury. The astrologer is set to defy doctor's orders and perform the samba on Saturday's Halloween special, before undergoing keyhole surgery this week to repair a tear in his knee lining. However he has insisted he will be back in the ballroom next weekend - as long as he is not voted out. "I'd rather samba myself to death on the dancefloor and collapse on the dancefloor than pull out!" Russell told The Sun. "My fans expect nothing less," he added. "I can't go out with a whimper now. I just love doing Strictly more than anything else I've ever done before. It is extraordinary the amount of love this has brought out in people." However he has admitted that he feared the damage was permanent. "They thought it was internal bleeding, so you do worry. I could have injured myself for the rest of my life," Russell said. "If I don't have the operation now it could get worse. But I'd rather be voted out by the public than let something like this finish it for me. Samba's the most fabulous dance, but my biggest danger is having so much bounce in me. I just love it— I could dance for ever!"
