Scarlett Moffatt: 'My mum doesn't want me getting a big head!'
Scarlett Moffatt has gone down a storm on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway. Despite her newfound fame, the former Gogglebox star vows to keep her feet on the ground...
Saturday Night Takeaway's newest face, Scarlett Moffatt, reveals how she still gets starstruck... and how she'll never be a diva
Can you believe that, after winning I’m a Celeb, you’re now co-hosting Saturday Night Takeaway? "Not in a million years did I think doing the jungle would open all these doors for me. Some of my favourite memories are of being at home, belly laughing with the family watching Saturday Night Takeaway. I always dreamt 'That will be me one day'. Knowing I’m part of that now is overwhelming."

What’s it like working with Ant & Dec? "It's unbelievable – they're my absolute heroes. I'm always starstruck by Ant & Dec – it doesn't matter how many times I see them. When I first met them in the jungle, I had a lump in my throat. I thought: 'I'm going to cry' – but I told myself to act cool because people were watching."
What advice have the boys given you about presenting? "The most important advice they gave me was to be myself. I don't think they realised how much confidence that gave me; the fact they were just telling me to be me. And if you go wrong to make a joke. It's best to acknowledge if you make a mistake. Nobody's perfect. I feel like hopefully, by the end of the year, I'll have a few skills under my belt."

Describe what it was like going up in a helicopter for your Takeaway debut a few weeks back… "How many people can say that, for their first ever live TV gig, they were presenting in a helicopter?! I had to get on a motorbike to get back to the studio as well. I felt like I was on a movie set. I was nervous but I think it’s important to be nervous because it shows that you care and want to do well. Luckily, I was in the studio for show two, so I knew at least I’d be warm and my eyelashes wouldn’t be falling off in the wind!"
As host of the show's 'Best Seats in the House' segment, do you enjoy meeting members of the public? "Yes, mainly because I AM just a member of the public, so they're exactly like me; usually they're just as excited as me. I love making people laugh and I love talking to random people – I'm that person on the train or bus that will start speaking to you. I feel very protective of the people I'm looking after – it's like my own little gang."

Takeaway has lots of famous guests – have you been starstruck meeting any of them? "I was starstruck meeting Jennifer Hudson – it was amazing sharing a stage with her. I was massively starstruck meeting Mary Berry, and Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. Holly is someone I really, really look up to. I admire her so much. It felt very weird speaking to her. I don't know how I kept my cool."
We all know and love you for being the girl next door. What keeps you grounded? "My family and friends will not let me be anything else but grounded. When I finished that first show, and everyone was coming over paying compliments, I asked my mum what she thought. She's always very honest. She gave me a six out of 10. She always encourages me to work harder and make it even better. She doesn’t want me getting a big head!"
Finally, if you weren't working on Saturday Night Takeaway, what would be your perfect Saturday night? "Honestly, I'd be watching Takeaway with my family! Me, my mum, my dad and my sister would order in a takeaway, then maybe afterwards I'd meet my friends in the local. I don't go to fancy parties much. I could have gone to the BRITs last month – but I was so tired I ordered myself a chicken kebab and watched it on the TV!"
Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continues on Saturday March 11 at 7pm on ITV
